Creating this thread to see if users of the 7,1 are seeing a benefit in switching over to MacOS Monterey knowing that the best feature set is built for the Apple Silicon.

Best feature set?
Exclusive to Apple Silicon Macs:

- Portait Mode on FaceTime: blur background
- Maps: interactive globe and detailed new city experience
- Object Capture: photo-realistic 3D object capture
- Siri: neural text-to-speech voice in more languages
- On-Device dictation: dictate texts of any length without a timeout

In any case, how do you find the responsiveness of the OS?

Those features don't faze me, i.e they don't add anything useful to my workflow.

The responsiveness of the OS seems ok, hasn't greatly improved or rather.. hasn't gotten any worse :)

Okay great to know on the performance side.

And yes, the feature set will be relative to those who will want/need it most.

There’s a lot of general UI improvements, even if it’s not as good as Catalina. Feels more responsive, which is an opinion I see a lot more on lower end hardware too. No improvements in GPU performance though, just UI.

Most of the new features are still present on Intel. I can still do things like plug-in my laptop and use my Mac Pro display. Improvements to control center, Bluetooth, UI improvements to System Preferneces.

But like I said, no big improvements to Metal performance and at this point you’re going to risk stability of your tools.

Oh, and if you have a variable refresh rate display, Monterey will support it on Intel as well.

Upgraded on launch day. Nothing feels truly sluggish or off. All of my audio plugins and programs still work.

Nothing really specific to a 7,1 but looking forward to upgrading. System wide translation hopefully will make it as easy to translate as three-finger tap is for dictionary, Mail privacy protection so I no longer have to turn off loading remote images, and Passwords in System Preferences should be great assuming it means I can use Keychain Access less. I know there are third party options but streamlined into the OS will be nice.
