I'm having problems with my new iMac taking precedent over other devices when it comes to notifications.

Specifically my problem is this; I have enabled notifications for Mail and Reminders on my iMac. I have chosen my settings to not allow notifications when the display is sleeping, when the screen is locked or when mirroring or sharing display. Despite this, my iMac always makes the notification alert sound when I receive an email or reminder. This seems to cause a problem where none of my other devices; mainly Watch and iPhone, will alert me when I receive this specific notification if the iMac has already notified me.

I've tried changing sleep settings, user log out times and screen saver but no combination of these seems to take affect.

Does any one have a similar experience or way to navigate this problem?

The setting for Mail notification sound is in the Mail app: Mail>Preferences>General>New Messages Sound

I don't know how this will affect the "other devices" issue you're having.

This is happening in macOS Monterey mail for me on both Macs I have. It works fine on iOS and iPadOS.
