Hi all,

I have a new MacBook Pro 13 with 128GB storage.
I have a 70+ GB photo library on iCloud, so I have turn on the optimize storage so not all of the photos are stored on the MBP.
The strange thing is that the the size of the photos library is counted both under pictures category and under documents - the system says I have less storage than I should have.

any idea? something I'm missing here?
thansk!

I hope you have other backups and are not just relying on iCloud to preserve your photos.

I know I should have backups..until I got the MBP I had a mini and an iMac that were backed up to time machine. Will do it to the MPB as well soon. is what I’m experiencing a bad sign?

You need backups that are not Time Machine, such as Carbon Copy Cloner. Time Machine backups tend to fail. A 3-3-3 strategy is best. (3 backups/3 media types/3 locations).

Posts about storage count variations are fairly frequent. In most cases it is not a problem. Can't say here. Just make sure you get those additional backups and then you don't have to worry.
