New Issues
(If you are encountering any issues, please press "Edit" on the bottom of this post and add it here)

Remaining Issues
Untested Issues

  • Time Machine causes kernel panics - if you experience this issue either unplug the drive or set TM to run manually. NOTE - seems to be a beta 2 issue
  • Alarms may not play when your display is asleep for a long period of time (FB10086690)
    • Workaround: Make your display not fall asleep in Settings > Lock Screen > Turn display off on ____ when inactive. You can turn your brightness off.
    • Issue present since macOS 13.0
  • General Bluetooth reliability issues (mouse and keyboard lag, audio lag, audio distortion) with 3rd party and Apple accessories per reports on Reddit and elsewhere.
Additional Notes
  • Please know, Memory Management has always been an issue on any OS (not just Apple's). If you believe there is a Memory Leak, please go to the Apple Menu > Restart > Restart to fix it.
  • When a new macOS release comes out, all issues automatically go to "Untested Issues" until they are moved by someone. Issues that stay in Untested for 3 releases (beta or smooth) will be removed from all future threads. When there is a new macOS release, please be sure to let us know about the issue's status by moving it to either "Remaining Issues" or "Resolved Issues"
  • macOS 15 Sequoia will be installed via a Delta Update in System Settings. Please be aware about this and the update won’t install with an installer.
  • macOS 15 is officially supported on the following devices. If your device is not listed below, it has unfortunately been dropped by Apple. Any efforts of trying to get your Mac running macOS 15, including bugs should be discussed in this thread.
    • MacBook Air: Intel 2020, M1, M2, M3
    • MacBook Pro: 2018, 2019, Intel 2020, M1, M1 Pro/M1 Max, M2, M2 Pro/M2 Max, M3/M3 Pro/M3 Max, M4/M4 Pro/M4 Max

Does this fix the SMB issues? It's problematic that sometimes my Synology NAS isn't listed in network devices in Finder and even more problematic when my mounted SMB share suddenly drops off.

Sorry I don't now anything about that but am interested in a NAS for backing up. Sadly the interest in new macOS betas seems almost not to exist anymore.

I get very often the message that Private Relay got disabled and later enabled again on my new Mac mini, already on Beta 1. Sometimes every few minutes, sometimes nothing happens for hours.

I don't get this on my M3 iMac, both are connected by Ethernet to the same Router with similar settings.

Is that what you get with paying more for a 10Gbps Ethernet port to be future proof? More bugs?

Cables are the same brand and date of purchase. They even support 40Gbps for whatever that should be, but the price was almost the same than for a 1Gbps cable.

I connected both Macs directly via Thunderbolt but I have no clue if the Thunderbolt Bridge is active with the yellow dot. I see both in the Finder's Networks section, but even if I remove the cable they are still there and it seems too slow for Thunderbolt. I think they just communicate over the router.
When I copy something from an external Thunderbolt 4 drive it's blazing fast. Not if I copy something from one Mac to another. And I don't want to use that Target disk mode.

P.S.: Still no full installer for Beta 2 anywhere.

Could this be due to Synology NAS?

I use Terramaster NAS and have not had any problem.

Not sure. Synology says it's Apple, Apple says it's Synology.

I found a workaround. If you mount the NAS using Finder's Go >> Connect to Server and use the IP address instead of hostname, it doesn't have any problems. It's connecting with the hostname that is having issues.

Full installer available now.

Just enter

softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer 15.3

in Terminal.

Code:
~ % softwareupdate --list-full-installers
Finding available software
Software Update found the following full installers:
* Title: macOS Sequoia Beta, Version: 15.3, Size: 14861386KiB, Build: 24D5040f, Deferred: NO
* Title: macOS Sequoia, Version: 15.2, Size: 14921025KiB, Build: 24C101, Deferred: NO
* Title: macOS Sequoia, Version: 15.1.1, Size: 12428948KiB, Build: 24B2091, Deferred: NO
* Title: macOS Sequoia, Version: 15.1, Size: 12427940KiB, Build: 24B2083, Deferred: NO

~ % softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer 15.3
Scanning for installer
Installing: 56.0%

I also found this direct link and hope it's the same:

Edit: The link is correct. Same date and files size and installer version after running the package installer. It seems Beta 2 had already been finished on December 21 and they waited with the release until after the holidays. I put the link in the WikiPost too.

App Store is still showing Beta 1.

Adora, Thank you for always doing this for us! How do we know, however, that we actually have 15.3 beta 2 and not beta 1 or something else?

I have beta 1 installed. But this afternoon I want to make an install USB key, reformat my internal and restore via Time Machine. Since that's about a six hour process, I want to make sure beta 2 is going on and not beta 1.

For the life of me I cannot figure out why Apple doesn't make this a simpler process. But they I really don't understand Apple anymore. For example, why did it move--and this was several versions ago--the cover art for music from the Music folder with the songs to buried in the Library? It's almost if they said, "Let's make it messy and illogical like Windows."

You can see if it's the latest build number in the Terminal with the command: --list-full-installers.

Before installing you can see the build number in the download section of the developer portal if it's not already in the WikiPost here. You can register there for free.

I don't know why they stopped offering the installers also there.

The other link can always be found in this catalog, but that's very confusing and you need a little experience to find the correct one. It was easier when it was listed there the same time the release happened.

They insert things in older paragraphs. And the build number is hidden in another file and also "encrypted" because it's only numbers also it differed by one letter (that was a number) too. That's why I wasn't sure at first. Also I think it's not the build number of the installer. It's the build number of the version they compiled the installer with. So a non open beta that would be 24C5040f.

Maybe you can see the link also somehow while downloading from Terminal. But sometimes it doesn't exist when it's already available via Terminal and this time it was there before but with a strange date.

One of the betas this year was even released in the App Store first or even only. Now there it's still Beta 1.

To find the build number you have installed, just click on the Apple in the Menu Bar, then "About this Mac" and then "More Info" and it will lead you here:

I removed the Thunderbolt connection to my iMac, what I thought is producing this and still get those notifications very often on my new Mac mini. The iMac has the same Beta installed. Normally it always just stays active.

Does it fix the AirDrop disappearing icon in finder?

I have AirDrop turned off and the icon never disappeared from my menu bar. Don't know if it's different when turned on. I have Bluetooth turned off 99% of the time.

Edit: Sorry I somehow didn't see you meant in the Finder. I just turned it on and don't see it there. But maybe I need a second device. I never used it. So no clue about that...

AppleCare+ is now called MISSING_TITLE. Also it ignores the system language when opened and uses the local one.

Has anyone tried if this is really still Beta 1 or if they just missed changing the text?

Screenshot 2025-01-11 at 14.12.23.png

I can't download it to compare the files because it somehow finds my Beta 2 download and just puts it in the Application folder within seconds.

Doesn't it make sense for it to be about domains/subdomains rather than URLs? If the web developer tweaks their login flow to use www.example.com/auth/ instead of www.example.com/login/ then we don't want our saved password to stop being offered.

I even removed those things often in 1Password because there were sometimes different ways to login and the difference was only behind the slash and 1Password could not find it automatically.

I mostly change it to the main website in Passwords now too and just use example.com without anything in front of it, not even www. Then it mostly works best for every website.

Sometimes the login link even changes every single time if you take the complete one.

Adora: Once again thank you for the help. I'm hoping one of these days we'll get a stable release and I can turn off betas and go back to the normal public releases.

When the final 15.3 is released, I'm going to reformat, install the OS, then install each program one by one. In other words, I'm going to bypass Time Machine and do a full clean install, which is what I did when I went from Sonoma to Sequoia. I've got tons of external space, so it's nothing to copying all my data files back and forth. I also copy the Library folders that contain things like the cover art from songs in Music:

~/Library/Containers/com.apple.APMArtworkAgent/Data/Documents

And over time I've built a database of over 600 screen shots of various applications' settings screens. While it does take a good bit of time to make everything fresh, it's the only way I know to get everything going without bringing a ton of junk from the past. Too bad more programs, like GraphicConverter, do not have a way to save their settings to a configuration file.

But how is 1Password working for you? It crashes on me multiple times a day. I deleted it late last night and installed a new copy. We'll see how today goes.
