Straightforward update on my Mac Studio M1
15.70GB update from 15.4. Build no. 24F5042g

I's 15.7GB on my M3 iMac and M4 Pro mini too. That's the size of a full installer but there isn't one yet available to download. Both are still downloading the update.

Fans got very loud shortly before the first reboot, I never heard the fans before.

But now it's running and everything seems to work.

Edit: Other one running too.

Photos was updated. It updates the Library (and in at least my case, rebuilds it too).

I went from 15.3.1 and Photos is 741.0.130 there, to 15.5.0 and Photos is 760.0.160 there.

No substantial changes noted just yet.

I was having issues with files not deleting since the 15.4 beta and with 15.5 beta the issue hadn’t gone away (I’d delete iCloud files (I do not use anything google or Dropbox) and they’d keep reappearing in my trash.

So I manually copied important files and restarted into recovery and wiped the system, reactivated my M1 Max MacBook Pro and reinstalled macOS.

Now when it starts up it says: The version of macOS on the selected disk needs to be reinstalled. Reinstall macOS or select another startup disk.

I’ve erased multiple times, ran fist aid on all internal volumes and drives and even did a reinstall on a brand new external ssd and the same message comes up.

Is there any way to fix without Apple Configurator or going to a repair location?

Update:

An Update, had to use Apple Configurator to restore via DFU and Restore which worked but a word of warning one of the Articles I read say the other Mac needed a recent version of macOS but does not state the other computer needs to be up to date. It forced me to update the other Mac to the latest macOS version before I could start the restore, also took about 5 tries to get it into DFU mode but saved me a trip to an Apple Store 100 miles away.

Updating the second computer took longer than the actual restore process. Amazed we still can’t do this from recovery or an iPad or iphone

Any update on the availability of iPhone mirroring in the EU?
I was waiting with this information because I wanted to know who always asks. ;)

Sadly...

Lately I remembered having old license codes for older versions of those apps:

Could one of those maybe be used as an alternative?

I've been using Macs since 1989. Since I could I have had the same background color on my Mac , seems apple finally found out how to F me and won't let me do it. The screen turns white when I try to get the color I have always used.

I couldn't find a good pic but it is kinda like the blue in this forum, a bit darker.

The pic doesn't do it any justice.

🤔
In over 20 years using another OS (no, not that one) I have never needed to restart my laptops due to memory leaks, not even after a couple of days of uptime and intensive usage.
Out of curiosity, how often people experience this?
