I go to the App Store, click on download Sierra, it starts fine, gets to about 1.19 GB and stops. Stays there for almost 30 minutes then I get a message saying it failed to download. Is this happening to anyone else? I feel like I might need to fresh install El Capitan then install Sierra...

This has been happening to me too, and I've been trying all evening. It finally downloaded after probably 15 retries amongst my two macOS devices (2015 MBP and Late 2012 Mac Mini). Some one else mentioned using 8.8.8.8 as your DNS to possibly resolve the issue, but I didn't have to go that far. I guess I'm lucky. Good luck!

This is driving me crazy too! I have 300 Mbps internet and it will not download! I do have problems downloading Apple apps and updates from the App store from time to time, especially OSX/macOS and Xcode updates. Goes from downloading 500 MB in a minute to barely 1MB a minute then just stalls. Everything else seems to work fine. This is my 10th attempt since yesterday and it's stalling again.

Exactly! Mine would stay at 1.05MB/s for awhile and then drop off. Too frustrating! I also have 300Mbps download speed. It eventually went through, ironically while reading this thread.

I know right. This is ridiculous. I get to 3.22 GB in 5 minutes then it stops cold and starts showing days instead of minutes. Come on Apple!

I have also experienced some long download delays recently. However, I think you all need to exercise patience, and take into consideration how much Apple's servers are taxed during the first few days when a new OS is released. Unless you have some pressing need to install Sierra right away -- perhaps because you are a developer -- wait a few more days until the demand dies down a bit, and then try again. Or else try downloading at an odd hour of the day -- such as late at night -- when other people in your particular area might be asleep. There really isn't much else that you can do.
