I signed up for the beta program. Once macOS Sierra 10.12 came out on the 20th I downloaded it thinking that would stop the beta updates it hasn't. My Mac just downloaded the latest while I was at work. So I went to the app store and downloaded the macOS Sierra 10.12.2.. Then I was given a choice in App Store preferences to hide or not to hide future beta updates so I picked don't want them hide them. Will it stop downloading or just hide the fact it did? I just want to opt out.

It'll not download or offer them for optional download now.

One Watch out is that the setting you selected didn't seem that reliable for me, 10 min after changing it I went back in and betas were enabled. I changed it again and it seems to have finally worked.

I unticked the "install Mac OS X updates" from the auto install section, so on the off chance it does enable betas it won't actually install it without manual intervention.

I want to stay on .2 as there seems little benefit in the small changes offered by the new versions and the betas update very frequently, it's just become a hassle. My Mac mini sometimes fails to boot after an update, so I think minimising the updates is the best option.

For me I want to remain in the beta program as I'm happy to keep going with the iOS betas. They seem to cause my iPhone less problems. So I just wanted to stop the Mac OS betas from installing.
