HI,
I am writing to you because I have a problem that I can not figure out.
For needs related to my work, I needed to install macOS Sonoma on a 1TB external drive where there are two partitions.
The first partition is occupied by my projects while the second partition is occupied by the Sonoma operating system, currently the Beta 4 version.
The problem is this:

If I attach the external disk directly to the ports of the Macbook Air, the external disk with the Sonoma operating system is not recognized and the operating system does not start, if instead I attach the external disk to the Belkin hub, USB-C port, the system The operating system starts without problems and also very quickly, while in the first case, the progress bar is shown, which stops for 5 minutes and then restarts the Mac.

What do you think could be the problem? I thought of a configuration problem but I am particularly convinced of this consideration.
Thank you all.

Is your drive a 2.5 SATA or NVMe.2 and what type of enclosure are you using?
I'm using a ACASIS Thunderbolt 3 enclosure with a WD Black 770 NVMe.2 and its considerably faster than the Samsung 2.5 SSD 870 EVO 1TB internal and it boots thru a OWC Thunderbolt 4 hub and/or directly off the iMac Thunderbolt 3 port, and no difference between the 2.
Here's an article that may help or shed some light on your issue.

I think I've been experiencing this since upgrading to Sonoma as well.

Anyone else? How odd.

I'm running the latest Sonoma developer βeta 14.3 on an external ACASIS TB enclosure with a 1TB Sabrent PCIe 4.0 Rocket M.2 SSD running on my testing M1 Mac mini and 14.3 βeta is stable and fast. Running the same βeta version, external enclosure and SSD on my testing Intel 2018 MBP and it's stable and fast as well.

I have bad experiences with Acasis Thunderbolt + Samsung 980 Pro when I use it as boot drive, especially with Sonoma.
