MacPro '08 remove start-up beep???

Im on mountain lion + macpro 2008, any way to remove the start up beep... I hate it! classic or not I hate it...

a friend told than in some macs dont sound with mountain lion, but is not my case, any help? thanks

no idea how to totally remove it. But if you turn down your volume all the way before shut down, make sure no speakers or headphones are attached when you turn it down, then it wont make the beep next time.

I use the Startup Sound app, but you're out of luck... it only works up to 10.6.8.

Look for something like that. I love having no chime when I start my Mac.

I use Audio Midi Setup

Ever since I upgraded my 2009 Mac Pro to the 5.1 firmware and 6 core CPU I have to use Audio Midi Setup to control the volume of my start up chime, the Audio Preference Panel only seems to work with Apps and has no control for the start up chime.
