Hi guys,

this will be a long post... ;-)

I've got a new DELL U2515H for my MacPro and G5.
So far, I love the monitor and the picture quality (the only thing I'm missing is an automatic switch between inputs).

But I have a huge problem with my MacPro 1.1 (running Yosemite 10.10.5) which has a flashed XFX Radeon 5770.
The card has 3 outputs (two DVI and a miniDP).

1. Via miniDP (with the included DELL miniDP to DP) I have no signal.
Does one knows if flashed 5770 card have a functional (mini)DP port, or just the DVI inputs?
2. All resolutions are recognized as "TV" resolutions. Why?
If I try to set the resolution to the maximum of 2560x1440/60 Hertz the monitor goes black (no signal).
Actually I'm running 2048x1152, which is fine.
BUT: the OS X login screen seems to be be higher, again, no signal.
Why does the login screen have another resolution as the desktop?

---
This doesn't happen on the G5 (with X1950XT and again 2048x1152), here I can see the login screen.
3. Now. I'm trying so set a resolution of 2560x1440 with let's say 55 or 50 Hertz, but I can't activate the resolution with SwitchRes.
I have only the Demo for the moment
Does one know how to activate a custom resolution in SwitchRes? It says "not installed".

The MacPro is connected via a DVI<-->HDMI cable
The G5 is connected via a DVI Adapter2HDMI and a HDMI cable

Thx in advance!

My Dell U2515H is also quite picky, DVI->HDMI adapters are often not working properly, even if they're spec'ed as "DualLink". Usually gives a "unsupported input" error.

DisplayPort should work fine on your HD 5770 if it's properly flashed (both in OS X and pre-OS). Make sure you're connecting to a DisplayPort input! The U2515H also comes with a DP output for daisy chaining!

Ok.
DisplayPort should be better, but when I attach the included cable it says "cable not connected", so I suppose the miniDP is not working on my 5770.
Can't tell you if flashed cards are supporting the output (flashed it with the instructions found on the netkas site).

If your card has the same port mapping as the reference version, it should have all outputs enabled in OS X. Again, make sure you're connecting to the DP input, not the output! ;)

Boot screen should appear on all ports but one DVI when using my EFI for flashing. The old one will only give analog VGA boot screens.

Well, I don't know if it has the same port mapping.
I know, there are some 5770 with a DP instead of miniDP so...
For sure to the DP input!

Ok, I've flashed it about one year ago, via command line.
No I don't have any boot screen.
Should I reflash it?
