MacPro 1,1 - OK to go to MS Office 2011?

Have Mac Pro 2006 1,1 w/ 8mg ram, running OSX 10.6.8.

I want to upgrade MS Office Mac from 2004 to 2011.

Any issues which I need to be aware of?

I have been using it with a mac pro 1,1 since it's release with zero issues.

The performance increase is due to the fact that 2004 runs in Rosetta (it's a PPC application) and 2011 is native.

You could use monolingual to remove the PPC binaries from OFFICE 2008 and still use it if you desire. I don't see much of a difference between 11 and 08, except for bloatware in 2011 version.

I can now move office documents back and forth between my mac version at home and my windows version at work with no issues.

Not in my experience. 2011 is the first time the ms office suites appear to have the same features.

The cost saving between purchasing 2008 and 2011 isn't worth it in my experience. Excel had some major improvements (aka visual basic is back - it might not matter for you, but the business community considers it important.)

Oh yeah.. forgot about VB. For my purposes, that is, resume writing and touching up my resume, 2008 works good for me. My PB G4 uses 2004 version which for basics is good. I do have 2011 on my Mac Pro and like the 2004 version I only use it for resume writing.
