MacPro 2009-2010

Dear All,

Have a macpro A1278 and A1280 the problem is that the unit does not turn On and if the working processor board is used then it is fine...
Have checked the defective board the diode D1802 at the back of this PCB was showing 'short' so replaced it with the component from an old board now this powers ON but no display fans running at high speed can anyone help me with schematics and guidance since I need this unit running...

Hmmm, you might be out of luck. I've been here a long time and never seen a schematic, nor have I seen anyone discuss component level repair other than some physical stuff like broken clips.

The best I can do is mention that there is a Technician Guide PDF floating around out there. However, that doesn't have component level troubleshooting, so it might not be very helpful for your situation. Assuming you've made the correct fix at the component level, then perhaps you can walk through through its system troubleshooting steps. But again, I doubt it will be helpful.

I've seen someone get in trouble for attaching the Technican Guide here at MR, so I'll just tell you that if you Google "mac pro 2009 service manual" it should be the first hit.

Many thanks I try my luck at the site...! Hope so I get them through.. It's a very weird problem... The guys at the mac service were of no help....i get back after this!

Shows connection timed out...! Is the site still working? Am stuck with this processor board which I am sure is defective the fans run at high speed powers on but no display despite changing the CPU, even the SMC reset performed... The diode mentioned earlier was short had replaced the same so thereafter the board powers on as it is the data / signals should be coming in from the North processor as far as I know which controls the PCI etc... But I am unable to proceed further since I don't have any reference and guys at mac service centre weren't of much help despite holding on to this mac for at least 5 days... !

The guides doesn't help much I have no display out as well as no mouse IR lights.. . Unit gets ON but no display...
Can someone please help with the same

A1278 is 2009 MacBook Pro, not Mac Pro. If you want help to a MacBook Pro, go to MacBook Pro forum and ask help there, people there maybe know about your problem.

It's macpro tower has a backplane and dual processor in the box.... I am really upset with such fragile macpro
