Hey,
I've got a Mac Pro from 2012 which is just dead: No chime, just a little "click" from PSU.
Is that definitely a broken PSU? Or could it be something else?
I really woul like to bring it back to life.

Could be anything, from PSU failure to BootROM corruption or SPI flash failure.

Start the diagnostic steps of the Apple Technician Guide, then start replacing parts with a known working Mac Pro, could be a MP5,1 or a MP4,1>5,1 - for doing diagnostics the SMC mismatch don't matter.

If your PSU is working and when you press the DIAG button and EFI_DONE LED is not lit, your SPI flash is corrupted or dead.

Hello,
need your advice again: I bought a MP 5,1 and want to install a NVMe on PCI, a Radeon RX Vega 56 Pulse or RX580 Pulse. The current osx is 10.13.6 and bootrom MP51.0089.800
Which steps do I have to take to get an optimal result?

So I need a Metal capable GPU first. Is a Saphire Vega 56 Pulse 8GB a good choice?

Just make sure you verify how much power is needed to run that card....some cards are power hogs and you will need not only the standard power jack setup of 2 mini 6 to one 8 setup but may need to also add another power cord setup to one of your HD bay to your video card to run it.
