Hi guys!

I recently discovered a Diagnostic LED (LED DSI510) lit on my MacPro 5.1 mid 2010 (32GB RAM / Mojave / NVIDIA Quadro K5000 for Mac)

It only appears when I turn the machine off ...

And even without the power cord, it remains lit!

When I turn the machine on the led goes off ...

Very strange...

Despite the Diagnostic LED lit everything is working perfectly

I'm using 3 monitors, two DisplayPort (Dell U2412M) and one DVI to HDMI (LG)!

If I disconnect one of the DisplayPort cables, the LED goes out!

Is there power entering in the mac by the DisplayPort cable? Isn't that bad for the machine?

My video card is an NVIDIA Quadro K5000 for Mac.

Is the problem the DisplayPort cable? I'm using DisplayPort 1.2 cables!

Does a Display Port 1.4 or 1.1 cable solve this problem?

What do you guys think?

Very strange, isn't it?

I did a test by techtools, all sensors are ok!
I've reseated all the memory cards too
PRAM and SMC Reset too...

The internal temperature is ok too!
Tested by Techtools and Macs Fan Control

Check the Northbridge temp:

Physically look at the rivet/pin to make sure it's not snapped.

then it can be a PSU problem
Thanks!

I've just tested the power supply and everything is correct...

The Displayport cable is a Displayport 1.2 to DisplayPort 1.2 cable for connect the NVIDEA video card output to Dell U2412M monitors.
I'm not referring to the NVIDIA Quadro K5000 internal power cable.

Very strange, isn't it?

I've had this 'issue' for well over a year, now ( . . . no problems showing, no excessive heat, no odd operational issues . . . just the DSI led lit in hibernation; even after disconnecting the power cable . . . removing the DP from the 580 (left, facing the back; 1.2 in my case) gets it to off.

Just thought that was how the system rolled with 'unapproved' hdwr ;)

Wow, we're in the same boat!

I'm worried if there is power entering in my MacPro by the DisplayPort cable! It seems to me a bad thing...

But I wonder if that problem is not caused by the DP cable ...

Once one monitor did not return from sleep mode. I discover the Circuit Assembly brand DP cable did not cause this problem! Just change the old cable and everything was resolved!

Maybe my DP cable is the problem...

My Dell monitor has DP1.2a input

I'm using a DP1.2 cable

Maybe this Is the problem... Who knows...

Some DP port cables are not certified too!

What would be a good suggestion for a reliable DP cable brand?

Unfortunately the Circuit Assembly website does not have the DP cables in stock ...

Not all display port cables are created equally, especially ones that have not been VESA-certified as some non-standard ones provide power on pins intended for other use ie. data transfer.

I bought this for $26 off eBay - retail is $39 ... works like a charm.

This one works very well with my MSIArmor RX 580 8gb DP for me, bought it cheap here in Japan at least 8 years ago.

Guys,

Problem solved!

What really made the diagnostic led lit was the DisplayPort cables!

Crazy!

I’ve swapped the previous cables for two Dell displayport cables and solved the problem!

The crazy thing is that the previous cable was an expensive cable with a lock and an excellent quality wire ... But there is some error in the pinout configuration!

In other words, it was not a real certified displayport cable, although expensive ... LOL!

Well, problem solved!

No more diagnostic led lit!

Thank for all!
