MacPro aftermarket RAM... do these have the proper heat protection?

Macsolutions memory for the MacPro

I bought ram from MacSolutions for my MacPro and am very happy with it. It does have heat shields though not quite the fins of Apple's Ram. But in 24 hours of nonstop use I haven't heard the fan cut on at all. And this is in a room that is already a bit warm (summer here). Shrug.

Regarding these "people" with memory errors. I have only seen 1 person report soft memory errors. Has anybody seen more than that 1 report that was done a week ago?

So far I have been running a week with my DMS memory, and everything is normal.

I am really looking forward to learning of all the compatible memory, should provide with cheaper memory upgrade paths in the future.

D'oh, the OWC RAM doesn't come in 512.

I bought mine from Apple and while waiting for it, bought some from memorytogo.com 'cause I needed it for a RAM intensive job. The modules were 512mb. 2 gig is all I need (but I do NEED it). These had stamped steel sheetmetal covers held on by clips. When the Apple RAM came I was going to send it back and I noticed that the company was selling Samsung modules alongside for almost Apple prices. Just for laughs, I shut down and felt the heat sink on the aftermarket RAM and it was too hot to touch comfortably while the Apple RAM was warm. Also noticed that it said
512MB ELP DDR2/667/FB I would have expected EEC not ELP any ideas, worked fine except for the heat which didn't turn the fans up. The machine does feel snappy with the Apple RAM and the slowdowns I was having in the finder are gone (wido re-drawing) who knows. I want to sell this but would like to know what I'm selling first. I called Apple and asked a Tech who didn't know what it was but told me if overheated memory caused any problem in my machine it would void the warranty. In fact he said the mere presence of non-Apple RAM would void the warranty although I think he is out to lunch there.
