MacPro Lion to iMac Mountain Lion

Greetings!,
Sad to say but it is time to stick a fork in my old boat anchor. Planning to get a new iMac with ML of course. The MacPro with Lion is too old to upgrade without jumping through hoops described on this forum..

Has anybody documented the process of moving my stuff from Lion to ML on new hardware? Of course I'm using Time Machine but suspect there is some trickery needed like downgrading iMac to Lion, recovering then upgrading?

No need for down- or upgrading anything to work with Migration / Setup Assistant.

Migration Assistant / Setup Assistant information:

Setting-up a new Mac from an old one, its Backups, or a PC
which includes:

• Using Setup Assistant on Snow Leopard or Leopard
• Using Setup Assistant on Lion and Mountain Lion
• Using Migration Assistant on Snow Leopard or Leopard
• Using Migration Assistant on Lion and Mountain Lion
• Transferring files from one User Account to another
• Transferring Home Folders not on a Startup volume
• Transferring Applications
• Problems after using Migration Assistant

Appreciate you saving me the time of finding the correct search terms to find all the articles.. Good to know Apple has all these eventualities covered when they "end of life" upgrades to hardware.
