Does this mean we're expecting an update soon? I always thought the iphone was updated in june/july but the guide on macrumors says theres an update due because the average days is something like 178 and its been 170 days since last update. Seems a bit weird to me but just wondering if there was a rumor i hadnt heard of.

Sorry if this has been asked thousands of times to the macrumor addicts but i typed iphone buy now update due soon in the search and nothing appeared. Not my fault if the search doesn't work properly.

You are correct. That's what everyone is expecting.

And this is why 'averages' aren't really all that helpful. When the iPhone was brand new there was a price drop soon after (which got counted as an update) and at one point they added a larger capacity model on top of the existing ones which was also counted as an update.

So even though the iPhone has always been upgraded in June or July you have these other numbers floating around giving you averages that, honestly, don't really mean anything.

Thanks for that, that makes sense.
