OK a quick quiz question for you all:

Which computer peripheral celebrates its 25th birthday today?

Here is a clue:

Originally it was not intended for use with a computer and during its development it grew by 25%. If anyone can tell me why it grew they get a bonus point.
 
My guess: the CD.

Why it became 25% larger, I don't know exactly, but there's this story that says that Sony Vice-President Norio Ohga wanted it to hold Beethoven's 9th Symphony, so it got to hold 74 minutes.
 
Well the CD is officially 25 today. Is that the answer?

Originally it was to me 60 minutes long but they increased it to hold Beethoven's 9th Symphony. The main thinking was that the inflated costs of a CD and CD player (the first CD player cost around £1,000) would only appeal to the higher class of society so they only made classical CDs to start with.
