I just opened an account today and it looks like I need to start posting some stuff before I can edit pages on macrumors.

From the little I understand so far regarding php, the tag "<?php" would be necessary to display the information noted this page:

http://guides.macrumors.com/Working_with_PHP_and_MySQL

Maybe? I tried it w/out the "php" part and it didn't work... and then it worked when I added it.

Maybe someone with editing capibilities can fix that? Or tell me that I'm wrong?

:)

I'm having trouble saving the document httpd.conf to the directory httpd,
I opened the httpd.conf using Terminal w/ this command:

sudo open -e /etc/httpd/httpd.conf

Which opened the file with TextEdit.
After configuring the file I asked TextEdit to save the document and I received this error message from TextEdit:

-------------
Couldn't Save

Couldn't save document as "httpd.conf" in folder "httpd".
-------------

I temporarily change the permissions on the file, should I have done that before opening the document? If so, the article should specify that.

That instruction probably shouldn't be there, TextEdit won't see the EUID switch from sudo the way OS X is currently set up. The pico command would have worked, though.

So, when I tried to turn websharing off, and then on again, System Preferences seems to be stuck in a state of "Web Sharing Starting Up..."

??
