Macs In The Wild

I didnt see a thread like this so I apologize if I am double threading.

Lets post some pics you have seen in the wild! Maybe at a shop, business, somewhere out in the real world. I got the idea because I was at the Orance County Auto Show today and a few of the manufacturers were using Macs as part of the information set-ups. Here is what I saw. The first 2 are in the Saab area. All of them seemed to use the same software but I don't happen to remember it at this time. The next 2 were from the Pontiac display. I thought it was funny that it was an Apple display and a Gateway keyboard. The last was at the Saturn booth.

So was it just the GM cars, or was GM the only company there? Don't know this show.

this show is just like any other major car show accept on about a 80% scale and they usually dont do any new car announcements at it. it appeared to only be the GM side of the show with Macs. I didnt see any other company using them but there were only a small group of companies that had computer based information kiosks. What I didnt see, and this may be a sign of the times, is any palm beam set-ups. Over the past years I have seen setups that allowed you to be beamed a small app that at photos, info and videos of whatever car/company was offering it. I didnt see anyting like that this time.

wasn't there a story a year or so back where Ford had gone to using minis to control their assembly line? I swear I saw a picture here.

to take it one step forward, back around the early 90s to mid 90s when Isuzu ws having a positive surge in the US their technical center and truck technical center were based in southern California. They had 2 top SUVs (Trooper and Rodeo) and had a pretty successful car business. Both of their technical centers (basically engineering offices) were running macs. I remember my dad bringing home his mac SE and later SE/30 each night to do work.

Not surprisingly, when they shut down the auto technical center and reopened it using PCs in another part of the country, their US auto business went downhill. Coincidence?

The iPhone display at the AT&T stores is run on a Windows machine. I think someone posted a pic here recently. Perhaps we should start a "Things that are Ironic" thread.
