Just purchased the MS Max. Will be needing a self powered hub to support the usb 2 and 3 storage peripherals. What do you suggest?
Is file sharing the best way to connect my old 2010 Mac to the MS to use as a server?

I have used a Pluggable dock for years with my 18 mini now my M2 Max MS. Plenty of USB for all my devices. All I did to switch my desk setup was unplug my 2x monitors and 1x Plugable USB 3.0 Dual 4K dock, then plug all three into the Mac Studio. Did not miss a beat. Way less expensive than the TS4. https://plugable.com/products/ud-6950/

Port PlacementVersion and Link Rate Features Voltage Amperage Wattage
1x USB-AFrontUSB 3.0 (5Gbps)Battery Charging 1.25V1500mA7.5W
1x USB-AFrontUSB 3.0 (5Gbps)5V900mA4.5W
4x USB-ARearUSB 3.0 (5Gbps)5V900mA4.5W

If you need HDMI, Plugable has other similar docks with that. I don't use the docks video out, just all the USB port goodness.

Thank you for your reply. I bought the TS4 since it was 20% off on prime day. I do need the display port since I run 2.

Caldigit TS4, of all of them, its the best.
My previous model Caldigit was solid but there are ton's of drive disconnect reports on the new one and the TBT4. My TBT4 is sitting on a shelf as it is junk, if anyone wants it. My iMac crashes every time I plugged it in. My Sonnetech echo devices may not have the fastest specs, but they all have been dependable and mobile. You can't use the newer CalDigits reliably on anything but the newest OS software.

Plugable also has 2x Display Port on the model I showed, the UD-6950. Hope your TS4 is working out!
