I have gone through two orders with MacVidCards in the USA and my experience was mixed. The first order was great, but then for the second order, I shipped a card to them and it just disappeared for weeks with no word. Eventually I got an email response and the person answering the mail (who was not the business owner, but who did not identify himself by name) told me that he was away on vacation and he seemed surprised no one had been assigned to check the mailbox in his absence.
I eventually got the card I needed after 2 months and all was well. I would strongly hesitate to order from them again, but I also don't anticipate a future need; my 2010 Mac Pro has just about outlived its usefulness here.
Based on the numerous reports on this forum and elsewhere, I wouldn't label him a scammer, but he definitely has major problems with business process and customer service.
Also, just a general reminder to always be kind to forum posters who are trying to help.
You sell refurbished Mac Pros on eBay and I would assume that you are transparent with your buyers and potential buyers, and you follow the eBay policies for sales and returns.
Then you would know what it takes to have a successful online business. Customer service, Fast shipping, well stock inventory and communication to name a few.
David Gary Pirinelli of macvidcards.com does not care to provide any of the above poor/none existing customer service, fast shipping??, well stock inventory?? and most important communication.
Did he follow the 30-Day Rule for Shipping Goods as per the FTC below?
If the business is unable to ship within the promised time or within 30 days,
the merchant must promptly tell the customer by mail, telephone or email, and give a new shipping estimate and give the customer a chance to cancel their order and receive a full refund.
The answer to that would be a NO.
As per his web site MacVidCards.Com the time allowed for flashing service was 1-2 days.
Did he communicate to me that there was going to delay in my order, the answer is no.
Now about me labeling him a scammer. Let’s define Scam/fraud
Definition of scam
a fraudulent or deceptive act or operation
one who perpetrates a
scam.
Definition of Mail Fraud
The term fraud includes any scheme:
• • •
To obtain money or property under false pretenses; or
• • • To sell, distribute, exchange, supply, or use counterfeits.
A person commits
mail fraud when the scheme involves the mailing of something associated with the fraud. Mailing contracts, receipts, and communications regarding a
fraudulent deal could all meet the law's requirements. The communications are not limited to the USPS and include mail sent through private and commercial interstate carriers.
From the above definition he is a scammer and committed mail fraud.
My question in this post “Is there anyone else here that has had similar problems of not getting back their Video Cards?”
I’m looking for other individuals that had the same or similar experiences of being scammed by
