Macworld Expo Experiences?

So me and several other friends are pondering the idea of taking a week off and spending it in California the week of Macworld. We figure we'd spend the first two days at the expo and see the keynote, and then tour Silicon Valley, Cupertino, go see Google, Apple HQ, and then other stuff to see in the California area.

My question is, what should we know about going to Macworld before we decide to throw a bunch of money in this trip? I figure we could just get the basic package that includes the keynote presentation. Is that where you are actually in the auditoriom with Steve Jobs, or do they put you in a seperate room where the keynote is projected on a screen?

Also, I have a Canon XL2. Would I have to be considered media before I could bring it in there and record some stuff or if you have tickets they don't really care?

If you buy a package that has keynote access, whether you get to be in the auditorium or in another room depends entirely on your place in the queue. People start queuing up for the MWSF keynote very very early. Last year, I got into the queue around 6:15am, and was one of the last people into the main room.

Does anyone know what "Priority Seating for Keynote" is? Instead of one long line starting at 4am does "priority" get me into another different long line that maybe has the luxury of starting at 5am? What exactly is priority about the priority seating? The macworld website is less than clear about what it means.

Also any general advice for a macworld n00b like me would be most appreciated.

Well it goes a bit like this, you have the User Conference pass which allows Keynote access but on a first come first served basis, these are guys that start queuing the night before to ensure a "good" seat, which is usually 30-40 rows back from the stage.

The other MacWorld passes that offer priority Keynote seating effectively mean that you don't have to queue up, you can basically turn up at 7am and get straight into a priority line, but this still puts you 10-15 rows back, behind the media and VIPs.
