What's the logic to the new folder structure for photos?

It used to be simple, up to 1000 photos to a folder then a new folder.
Now it's dates, year_month, and that was fine if a little iinconvenient, but it's also got a lot of repeat images in folders with _a, _b, _c, _d ....
Looking for photos to copy off now is getting more complicated than it needs to be

So the library isn’t structured into folders it’s different views. The library will show you everything, just filtered by different options - Years, Months, Days, All Photos.

Albums are not duplicated photos they point to the original photo in the library. So for example you can have two albums with the same photo, but it’s still only the original one photo in the library, not duplicates.

Sorry, should have said folder structure when you plug the phone into a PC to copy the photos off
