As per my title in my post.. i made a iOS 17 back up and restored down to ios 16.. i now try to do a backup on icloud but get this message "the last backup could not be completed because iCloud contains a backup from a newer iOS version"

Any solutions to resolve this?

Thanks

Have you tried to delete the backup(s) that are currently stored on iCloud? In your iPhone settings, you can go to iCloud settings and there, you should have an option to manage iCloud storage.

Thank you all for the replies. I have resolved the issue by deleting the old back up and doing a new back up. Can't believe i did not think of this.

Thank you!

Just curious, is there a way to rename a backup, so you could have an iOS16 and an iOS 17 backup?

A long time ago if you ever backed up on a higher iOS version iCloud would block you from ever being able to restore a backup from an earlier version on the same device whether you delete it or not. Is it still like that? I'm not sure.
