Made for Mac vanishes

I've been looking for a simple digital voice recorder and have had trouble finding one that will work with Macs. So I went to Apple's website looking for their Made for Mac section, which has been very helpful in the past.

I was surprised to discover that with their website makeover, they've eliminated Made for Mac. Why would Apple do that? Do they think that because their new computers can run Windows, hardware compatibility issues no longer exist? Made for Mac seemed like it was good for Apple (promoting their brand through an alliance with hardware manufacturers) and it was good exposure for the hardware companies.

You worry about nothing. Just because it disappeared from the Apple Store website doesn't mean the DVR suddenly stopped working on the Mac. Identify the recorder that you want, buy it, and be happy.

Ah, if only life were that simple.... My dilemma has been the inability to find a decent one that's Mac compatible. Except for two models, Olympus' recorders only work with a PC. The two Mac models do very little for the price, IMO. I've been leaning more toward getting an iPod and the Belkin stereo recording adapter, which would be cheaper than buying a "real" two-channel digital recorder, and more useful to me.

I know when I buy it, Griffin or Belkin will come out with a stereo recording attachment for the iPhone and then I'll be kicking myself. But I guess that will always be true with technology. You're right -- I should just get what I need now and not worry about it.
