I did the cardboard laptop stand but I modified it to fit my needs and basically lowered the angle and widened the base. Looks awesome (not as good as yours though) and certainly cheap.

My makeshift laptop stand has been a 3" 3 ring binder- worked like a charm with my iBook that had the rubber feet- it doesn't work as well with my MBP now.

Exactly, I also had by 3 ring binder as my laptop stand when I was using a Dell and it worked great but not so much for the MBP, unless you like living on the edge of will it or won't it slide all the way to the floor.

this is awesome! You might even be able to find some scrap pvc and just buy your joints...then again...the joints are the expensive part. Did you bother using pvc glue? Definitely creates a look!

You did a really nice job with that. It looks great. How did you decide what dimensions it would be and what size PVC you'd need? Was it based off the product you linked to?

Okay, I'm going to make one out of cardboard! You think it would scratch the aluminum?

I was just wondering if someone had built one out of KNex yet....of course they have! Several actually but this is the coolest.

KNex MacBook Stand

I am guessing one out of this would be pretty costly and likely scratch the Mac.

But I have to say this is cool- makes me want to get my son's legos out tonight and build one!
