I made the switch with a brand new shiny 12" iBook. Don't worry I got it at CompUSA, so I have 21 days to return it in case of an update.

Just had a couple questions.

1. Could someone point me in the direction of a list of hotkeys?
2. How do I fully expand a program window?

Thats all for now just after 5 min. I'll get back with first impressions and more questions.

1. System Preferences > Keyboard Shortcuts
2. The plus '+' symbol expands the program window

You need to download the updates for Tiger 10.4.2 to get a new Widget controller. When you bring up the Dashboard, click on the big + that is within a circle at the bottom left of your screen. That will bring up the other available widgets, and put an "X" by the active one where you can delete them.

List of hotkeys can be found in help, also in System Preferences' Keyboard Section (where you can edit and customize as well). Expanding a window is usually accomplished with the green button, though some windows behave differently.

Options of dashboard Widgets are accessed by clickin in the small "i" that illuminates at your mouse gets close to it.

1) Google. There is no FULL list, as many keyboard shortcuts vary between applications. There are some immutables, however. The easiest way to learn them is look at the pull-down menus. To the right of many actions you'll see the keyboard shortcut. The Squiggly thing is called "Command". For example, most apps support Command-q as Quit. Here's a list of some others that might be of interest:

2) This is something you might have to ditch along with your Windows identity. For example, browsers just aren't built to be full-screen in Mac OS X. You can make it so, buy moving the window as far to the upper left as you can on the Desktop, and then clicking and dragging on the lower right hand corner of the window. You can also try using the little green button at the top of the window's toolbar, but this is generally used to shrink/resize a window, not fully expand. Again, this is just a fundamental difference that you might have to get used to.

Where are you seeing this? Inside Mail.app? Microsoft Word? Safari?

Yeah, I see it in Mail but can't figure out how to spell check.
Any help would be gratly appreciated.

Ctrl_click or right-click on the offending word, and a list of suggestions will pop up.

You can also go to Edit -> Spelling -> Spelling, or hit command-: (command-shift-semicolon) to start the spell checker. On a related note, you can hold down ctrl-command-d in many apps, and a little box will pop-up with a dictionary definition for the word currently under the mouse pointer. These are just two little things that make Mac OS X great .

Thanks for all the help. Now I have a problem not a question. I know that dashboard is F12 on iBook. It worked on the first day, but I restarted the computer with 10.4.2 and now it doesn't. I checked the system preferences. It says its F12, but it doesn't work. Dashboard is in the dock, but it still doesn't work!?!?!

Right-click or Control-click on the body of the message. Spelling is in the contextual menu that pops up.

I did that, but it still didn't work. You have to hold F12 to get it to eject. Thats why it can be used for Dashboard, too.

Absolutely not. They are strickly for viewing.

And I don't beleive the plug-in for Quicktime allows for editing either. More info here:

Well, while you're right it doesn't allow for MPEG-2 editing. However, it allows for exporting to MPEG-4, which can be edited.
