Mag safe charger orange when it's plugged in and I restart computer, but battery is full?

I just got my new m1 max macbook pro 16 inch, with 32 core gpu, 64gb of ram and 4tb of storage, and it's absolutely fantastic, I love it.

The only problem is that the mag safe charger LED keeps being orange after I turn on the macbook and/or restart it (not just wake it from sleep).

If I plug it out for a second and plug it back in, it turns green. My battery is at a 100% all the time, so I don't know if this is normal or something to worry about lol? Anyone had this issue?

It’s optimized battery charging. Been around for awhile and when it’s active/learns your routine it won’t charge past 80%.

I just mostly plan it to keep it on the charger, so I'm guessing it will figure it out eventually.

Yeah mine does that too. Even when fully charged, the MagSafe charger's LED turns from green to orange and then back to green every time I restart my computer.

Yep, it’ll settle into keeping the battery charged to “Around” 80% all the time - I also use my MacBook Pro plugged in 95%+ of the time. This article explains more.
