I don't know, I don't have one. But I love the concept. I cannot tell you how many times I have almost yanked my powerbook off the desk or table because I have tripped on the cord. I think I would put up with it falling out once in a while...a decent trade-off in my eyes. But that is just my two cents...:)

well..i agree it to be kinda annoying. I can understand the idea if you are using it in a place where ppl are running around all the time, but if you are careful why does it need to yank out so easily. I have an ibook and i have two batteries and don't need the pwoer except at home and why would i want the cord to yoink out when i move the ibook. I have used a friends macbook and when the cord was slightly snagged it would come out. kinda annoying

I like it, sure it can fall out but it's a not a big deal I mean just put it back in! I'm you have just enough time to realize it's been disconnected before your battery runs out :p

Yeah, Magstay seems like something you might want to look into if it's bothering you that bad.

However, in my experience from my MacBook Pro, it's only annoying if you're sitting on a bed or you have the power cable stretched up to a table where you really need it to be longer anyway. Only in those situations for me does it end up being slightly pulled to a downward or upward angle and easily come out. The magnet makes it really easy to put back in though, plus those conditions aren't ideal anyway.

In my experience it stays in very well but at the same time comes out if needbe. My dog and one of the cats like to chase one another around the house and there have been several occasions where my MBP would have been yanked into the floor had the magsafe connector not simply pulled out as they ran through the cable.
So yeah... I'm very happy with the performance of mine

I love the Magsafe connection. It very rarely falls out, in my experience...it works very well. I think that someone's idea (7on???) of a Magsafe DVI adapter would be awesome!

For that to work for DVI, the magnet should be very strong. I don't think it is good for LCD screens to get disconnected while it is on (before turning it off).

I can't see any reason why that wouldn't be good, DVI doesn't offically support hot plugging, but it is ok to do in pretty much all cases.

So, if it is not officially supported, how would you know it is good for the machine?

I disconnect my Dell 2407WFP all the time from my MacBook Pro without turning it off first. The screen just naturally goes into power saving mode.

Before getting this LCD, I did the same with my 2005FPW for over a year with no ill effects.

I see no reason it would harm the screen. After all, it's not like you're pulling the power plug out.

If there is one thing I will complain about is that MagSafe being too strong.....

My magsafe adaptor has never fallen out. It is a life saver. I have gasped/held/lost breath twice now since i got my MBP. If i didnt have mag safe, id be in a very sorry state right now.

Yes, I am a god.

In other news I specified the Mini-DVI connector of the Macbooks. The macbook pros would almost need to be exclusively the standard DVI port. But with Mini-DVI you have to use an adapter anyway, might as well be magsafe.

And I hot-unplug my monitor all the time.

I like the feature. Only negative aspect as I see it is that the magnet is too strong. It occasionally grabs on to the neighboring USB port.

But all in all a nice feature. Not a big fan of the HUGE power supply though.

Eh...it's an 85 watt adapter....can't expect it to be THAT small :)
Yeah I know :) But just a big size difference when comparing to older models.

The quality of the adapter sucks, needs to be sturdier.
Was it the adapter, cable or the magsafe feature that broke?

err....the power brick itself is the most solid thing in the Macbook Pro Box.... how did you break yours?

Not the box thing, the cable, where it goes into the adapter that plugs into your computer....it cme completely apart and frayed and melted 2 times!
