I am really looking forward mostly to the iBookstore on the iPad and was wondering if some of the magazines will be allowing their subscribers to move their current "physical" mags over to "digital" mags to be read on the iPad. I currently subscribe to Mac Life and Mac World and would rather receive them digitally instead of in the mail. Perhaps those that offer digital subscriptions can be pinned to a post in here.

Definitely should prove useful when on the pooper reading the latest issue of Playboy or Maxim.

Steve has singlehandedly distrupted the art of conversing to human beings further. my girlfriend already hates my macbook and iPhone. now the iPad.. hmm

Haha! Same here! I'm seriously waiting for the day where she confiscates any (probably all) of my Apple gadgets and I can only get them back through good behaviour.

Zinio has an iphone app and is making a ipad app. I have over 5 years of Macworld just waiting for the ipad. I also subscribe to Mac|Life, Esquire, Tatoo Magazine, Elle, Country Home, VIVmag, National Geo, Natl Geo Traveler, PC Magazine, Home Theater and a few others I don't remember. I also have thousands of Classic Public Domain ebooks just waiting to sit on my ebook shelf. I also have many publications on CD in PDF like the National Geo 100+ year collection (on DVD), MAD magazine, Archie, Rolling Stone, Fantastic Four, Star Trek comics and the paperback collection (over 300 ebooks)...the list goes on.

I think the iPad will be quite different. it's designed to allow more than one person to view/use at a time. I think this is really the sneaker-feature of the iPad concept. Multi-touch is multi-user, and it's big enough and portable enough that at least 2 people can enjoyably use it at once. No other computing device has these properties. I have a feeling that the iPad will bring people closer together instead of isolating them like other devices have done.

It'll be up to individual magazines, but I hope that if you already have a paper subscription, a digital subscription should be included with that at no added cost. If you want a "digital-only" subscription, it ought to cost the same as a paper subscription, minus the overhead of printing & delivering the physical copy. This is route to a win-win-win situation for the content provider, advertisers, and subscribers, and will allow a smoother transition from print -> digital. Every other model I've read about is quite plainly broken.

The only loser in this model is the actual printers... and the people involved in delivering and selling hard copy (post office, newsstand, etc).
