I apologise in advance if this has been brought up elsewhere, but I couldn't find it.

I know a lot of people have been worrying about the lack of an "escape" key on the new Magic Keyboard, and this was mine too. Thankfully there is a workaround to this, and it's made my life so much easier!

For anybody interested in using this, here are the steps:

Settings -> Keyboards -> Hardware Keyboard -> Modifier Keys -> Globe Key (you could also use Caps Lock, Control, Option, or Command instead) -> Escape.

This doesn't make up for the lack of function keys but it does remove a big headache for me.

I hope this helps some of you!

Another method I just learned... Command-. appears to act as Escape.

I like the Globe Key method, but every once in a while that key is necessary to switch to the Emoji keyboard. I wish the Modifier Keys setting would allow for key combinations (like Control-Globe).

Command-period.
Easy to type. Don’t have to remap anything.
