I love my new iPad pro and magic keyboard. There is a problem I have been having and I am not convinced it’s something I’m doing. When I am typing a message in Facebook or messenger sometimes when I am half way through a sentence it will lose focus and come out of the text box. I then have to find the post and go back to the half written message and continue. It happens so fast I’m not sure if I’m pressing a wrong button or not.

Can anyone help as it’s become a pain. Thanks.

It could be a bug with the Facebook app. Are you on the latest version of the app?

Not all apps work well with iPadOS trackpad support. Maybe FB is one of them and will be updated at some point to provide better compatibility. A well-known example is Microsoft 365, which, according to this MR article, should be adding trackpad support this fall. You may want to report the issue to FB.

Just curious if you're using Facebook Messenger in the multitask mode (split view or slide over mode) when you encounter the keyboard losing focus problem?

When I'm messing around with coding, I use split screen (Safari and a terminal program remote log in to a different machine either at work or at home). Sometimes (over the past few months) my keyboard would lose focus on which screen or gets stuck in Safari and I can't get it back in my terminal app.
Today, within 10 minutes, the keyboard was stuck in Safari a few times. The short way of "fixing" this is I end up going to Home Screen then open the terminal app to go back into split view and the keyboard goes back to the terminal.

By the way, I'm on the 2018 iPad Pro 11" and iPadOS 14.
Bugs like this really infuriates me when trying to get work done and makes me boot up my laptop. (The other annoying thing is mouse wheel scrolling..but that's another story).

Try this, go out of your way to not have your hands near the trackpad. It's possible that you are unintentionally brushing the trackpad when using those apps.

Most likely a problem with the app itself. Many of the Microsoft office apps had this problem at first (may still?)
