Hi Guys,

Getting use to the MK. Typing getting there - less typos as I get use to the smaller keyboard etc.

One thing I cannot work out though - please assist!
Like this post, a bit of a struggle without a quick copy paste option!

How do I copy and paste text?

Windows - It’s - Control V and Control B (Is it?! I just do without thinking!)

Whats the quickest shortcut keys way to do it on the MK?

Please advise
Regards
Martin

It’s the same on any Apple device with a keyboard: command-c/command-v.
You can press and hold the command key in any app on the iPad to reveal what keyboard shortcuts are available.

Hi C,

Just tried it, it works great, thanks! :)

BTW, press and hold CMD Doesn’t mention command-d/v for safari, e.g. on this web site now!

Since 1984, Macs have used cmd-x to cut, cmd-c to copy, and cmd-v to paste. And Microsoft copied the same keystrokes in Windows, but they used the control key because windows PCs didnt have the cmd key (which was an Apple in those old days).

In summary:

X to cut
C to copy
V to paste

There are many more standard shortcuts you should know. See https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201236

That’s awesome, thanks C! :)

Newbie apple user so forgive the questions

You can even copy and paste between devices, assuming they are on the same iCloud account. Quite handy at times.

I’m also a Windows/Linux user. I still trip up doing copy and paste cause I keep hitting the Windows copy and paste.. 😅

You can change the modifier key and make the keyboard use the same shortcuts as on Windows. This is what I did. I replaced Command with Control. This way I do not need to always remember the difference between Windows and iPadOS.

You just go to General/Keyboards/Hardware/Modifier keys.

I second this suggestion.

I use the same Logitech K780 keyboard for my desktop and iPad and switch on the fly between the two. Having to do CMD+X/C/V on one and CTRL+X/C/V on the other frequently tripped me up so I mapped the iPad modifiers to match Windows.

The only problem I have with this is that for some reason once I do this I cannot use the dedicated globe key from the keyboard to switch between languages. Have you had this issue and how do you handle it?

Sorry, my keyboard’s multi-device (and seems primarily PC oriented) so it doesn’t have the globe key.

Got it. Do you have the need to switch between languages? I mean if you don't have this need you have never experienced my issue.

Nope. The only time I use the globe key is when switching to the emoji keyboard. :p

P.S. I keep forgetting the keyboard shortcut (I should probably put a post-it on my monitor) but CTRL+spacebar (CMD+spacebar for me with modified keys) brings up the keyboard switcher.
