Magic Keyboard - media keys doesn't work

I have the new Magic keyboard connected to my iMac 5K. The volume buttons + display brightness all work, but when I try to pause, or skip a song in iTunes those keys doesn't work.

I remember that I have tried reformatting the Mac (for a different reason...) and that didn't make a difference either. Neither El Capitan.

Anyone else with this problem?

Is iTunes the foreground app when you try this?
Does it work if it is?
Some other apps may capture the media keys instead while in foreground.
Also check if your keyboard preferences are not switched to standard function (F1..F12) keys!

They don't function when iTunes is running on top. Only the volume keys. I have tried under keyboard settings to try and change the settings, so you have to use the FN key as well, but that doesn't work either. Very strange. It's only the 3 media keys that doesn't do anything. The dash board / all apps + brightness keys also work fine.

Update - the keys are finally working in macOS Sierra GM - about time
