I'll be honest, after seeing Apple's pricing on the Mac Pro wheels and stands, $350 seems reasonable.

If it does everything as advertised and is structurally durable, it'll be worth it for me. You are essentially getting a 13 inch 2-in-1 device for $1250. Even cheaper with EDU pricing. This lines it up pretty comparable to the Surface Pro/X line or even the failed Pixel Slate.

I am happy to see Apple underpromise and over deliver by beating out their announced shipping date by quite a margin. Mid April instead of "Sometime in May" (personally I took that to mean end of May).

Mine should arrive early next week, can't wait to fully embrace the iPP as a real MBP alternative. Should be a decent number of apps that support trackpad by now too I would imagine (though surely many more will need to be updated in the weeks/months to come).

I haven’t yet because I still cant decide if I should go 12.9 or 11.

This sounds weird but the way I see it then an 12.9 iPad + Magic Keyboard = a MacBook without Mac Apps, but an 11” + Magic Keyboard = an advanced iPad. And I’m not sure if I’m actually looking for either of those products. :p

Buy one, try it, if no like return it......

The other way of looking at a 12.9 is “a MacBook with iOS apps”! Because at the end of the day, even if you use Mac apps not available on iOS, you can utilize VNC or RDP on the iPad to access a cloud PC or local computer to complete that work. Whereas there is no current option to run iOS apps on that MacBook.

I use VNC to access my iMac, and I have a Windows 10 cloud PC via Paperspace that is charged at a small hourly rate that I can access via RDP. Best of all, I created shortcuts on the iPad, so with one click I can start/restart/shutdown/check available space, etc with that Paperspace PC. Only around $5 per month fixed + $0.15 per hour of usage.

Ordered mine this morning, should get it between the 21-23rd. Price is ridiculous, but oh well.

Pretty much me below...I ordered one. I'm hoping I can balance it in my lap since I think that's probably the only thing that might be an issue.

Man, I really want one of those but that price though! I will wait and see the reviews before I pull the trigger

The more I think about it the less inclined I am to purchase one. I just feel from what I can see, the SKF would suit my portability needs much better than this.

For me, folding the keyboard to the back is a better solution than having to detach the keyboard. This also looks appreciably thicker than the SKF and lets not even talk about the price.

It may suit some who don't mind taking a hit on portable convenience for a better desktop experience. I'll just stick to my bluetooth keyboard and trackpad when at my desk. I personally don't mind using the touch screen when I'm mobile.

Portable use scenarios is my biggest concern with this also. If the Magic Keyboard Case is awkward when using mobile (weight, top heavy, doesnt fold back) then it will be limited to a table. And if that’s the case then is this all-in-one desktop dock solution better than an eye-level stand, full function keyboard and choice of pointing device?

I’m a huge fan of the Smart Keyboard. Thin, lightweight, invisible. If they made a version of the ASK w/trackpad then I’d be set. But they dont so I have to consider the value of the Magic Keyboard and its a tough price to pay. Not only because its so expensive, but because its a disposable proprietary keyboard.

For those worried about portability and/or capability this ad shows the magic keyboard being used on a person's lap a few times. Obviously it's an ad and perhaps misleading but that at least looks like a promising sign. What's most likely is we'll all have to get used to it since at first we'll treat it like a laptop and then eventually adapt our usage patterns after almost dropping it a few times.

Oh and Apple hasn't released the weight so if I were taking bets here that is going to be the bad news with it probably weighing the same as a MacBook Air or 2.8 pounds or roughly 1 pound for the iPad and 1.8 pounds for the case. Maybe 1.5 pounds at the bottom to offset the weight with the iPad elevated/floating on the magnets. Just a guess though.

Well we will find out in a few days I’m sure...

A lot of usage for me is on a lap due to working from home so hopefully will be just as good as deal use
