Magic keyboard trackpad delays and scrolling freezes on safari

The trackpad seems to freeze up / stop scrolling (mainly on safari) on iPadOS 15 in the magic keyboard. Anyone else encountering similar problems with the trackpad behaviour?

I'm commenting here because I'm getting a weird semi-delay in mouse movement.

The mouse pointer travels short distances when I move it slow but long-distance when I move it fast. Does that make sense? I don't know if it's always been like that but it's noticeable now.

happens on my logitech combo touch too. Alt tabbing into another app and coming back of course fixes it
