I bought above keyboard used but in very good condition.
However the charge cable is missing.
I tried connecting it with the cable I use to charge with my iPhone, but it didn’t do anything.
If it charges, is there an indicator somewhere?
Do you need a special cable?

If it's an original magic keyboard should charge normally with any lighting cable and also should be recognised from any modern mac almost immediately if you connect it directly to one of its ports.
you can check this in the system preferences/keyboard/input sources.

if it just came out from cold storage may take a bit for getting some charge before wake up, but it should work quite quickly. if it is not working with a cable connection (I would connect it directly to your mac first) I would suggest first make sure that you're using an original Apple or at least an MFI-certified lighting cable for the wired connection, before start looking for issues in the keyboard, because the non-MFI certified lighting cables are notoriously bad in data connections.

It was late and I was in a hurry....
It now works perfectly.

I have an original Apple Wireless keyboard (with the three AA-batteries) and it mostly works - but its battery consumption is way too high and in the past, it sometimes lost the connection to the Mac.
I switched to a Logitech solar-powered wireless keyboard, but the typing on that was always too squishy - and it feels like it has further deteriorated after 18 months of use in WFH...

I bought the matte-grey one, because it better matches with my 2018 Mini.

I hope the seller can produce the original charging cable. I'd hate to cough up another CHF 20 for a 1m Lightning-to-USB cable.
It was sold with cable, but obviously the seller (who likely bought this off someone else and is a commercial entity) didn't even check if it was there.

Glad you figured it out! I got one of these a year ago, it came with a black lightning to USB-A cable but, of course, you could charge it with any lightning cable. I find that mine goes for a couple months without needing a charge however. It will work like a USB keyboard when you connect it with the cable.

In case you haven't already noticed, you can check the charge level by going to the keyboard screen in System Preferences. It's a shame they discontinued the space grey version - looks great with my 2018 Mini. :)
