For some reason the left and right button switched from functionality so if i click left an window opens and the right button function as a an enter. How can I switch it back and how did it reverse suddenly ???

Just go to "Mouse" in System Preferences. There you can easily set up primary click and secondary click. As to why they switched I have no idea, never heard of it happening.
