Hello,

I recently installed my new SSD into a USB 3.0 enclosure and installed ML from scratch and since this I've been experiencing some lag issues with my magic mouse..

Has anyone experienced this before? Could this be due to the use of a USB 3.0 device as previously reported?

I can see absolutely no reason why the new OS X install should cause anything to SLOW as it's a Samsung 840 SSD in a USB 3.0 enclosure although I booted up the new install using a USB 2.0 enclosure for a few hours beofre purchasing this USB 3.0 enclosure and experience no such problems.

Is this a typical USB 3.0/Bluetooth issue?

The usb issue is not just mac mini. It is a documented Intel problem. Research Papers have been written discussing the USB3 interference problem? I know someone with a pc who have had a similar problem. Appeared to Disappear when they moved things around.

I saw this but I'm not willing to void the warranty to rectify such a problem if it is being caused by this.

Is there anything else I can try?the lag gets much better (less lag) the closer the mouse gets to the mac mini..

I just don't understand the logic here, how would paving a sticker void your warranty, that's not the case for sure.

Well you do have to disassemble the Mac Mini in order to install the shield over the BT chip.

USB 3.0 interferes with 2.4GHz band, which happens to affect a lot of things, including wi-fi and bluetooth. USB 3.0 should never have been made a standard as it is.

Is there anything else I can try?

Move the peripheral further away from the Mini.

Move the Mini closer to your mousing surface.

Switch to a mouse that doesn't use bluetooth.

Stop using the poorly tested USB 3.0 standard by switching to external peripherals that use Firewire or Thunderbolt.

Shield the external peripherals as shown on page 14 of the Intel whitepaper.

Shield the USB 3.0 connector on the Mini, as shown on pages 15-17 of the white paper.

As already suggested, shield the bluetooth receiver itself.
