I'm using Magic Trackpad 2 with MacBook Pro 13 late 2011 and macOS 10.13.6.
Few weeks ago Magic Trackpad get stuck in pressed position, like it was pressed all the way down, and works like Force Touch is disabled.
Another problem is the increased battery usage. Usually it lasted about 2 weeks, but now it holds only 1 week.
It fells like MT2 works in "pressed mode" and eats the battery.

Force Touch option in settings is available.

What I'm already tried:

* PRAM and SMC reset
* Deleting MT2 from the system and pairing it again
* Restarting Bluetooth from BT-Debug menu
* Deleting com.apple.driver.AppleBluetoothMultitouch.trackpad.plist

Any idea folks?

I have a similar problem with my magic trackpad 1 on a 2020 MacBook pro 13 with Catalina. It works fine for about 20 minutes and then behaves like the left mouse button is stuck down. It either highlights text or draws selection rectangles on the desktop. Only turning it on and off fixes it.

I noticed there is Catalina update available. I'll update but I doubt it will fix this. Please post if you find a solution.

My college have the same issue within warranty and it was swollen battery :mad:
He got replacement, but mine is 2 years old, so I'm stuck with it.
Now it holds only 2-3 days on full charge.
I still can use it without force touch, just with taps, but now I'm afraid of potential battery explosion...

Is it possible to remove the battery and use it connected via cable?
