Hey,

I was about to pull the trigger on a iP7 but decided to wait until iP7s since the home button will probably be gone by then.

I have what I thought was a new MBPr until I realized mine is the one just before the MBPr with 3D Touch was released :( So that means I cannot simulate 3D Touch for iPhone development unless I buy the Magic Trackpad 2.

I know there is that 3D Touch script but does it actually work well? Is it identical to real-world?

I use the Magic Trackpad 2 for development and it works really well. Completely identical to actually using 3D Touch on the device, even using simulator.

Honestly...I wouldn't bother. Just get the MT2. It's worth it completely. I don't think I could ever go back to a mouse or even the old MT1 lol.

What do you mean? I'm thinking of getting MT2 but I wanted to know if it was capable of triggering Shortcuts a well as 3D Touches. Basically, Peek & Pop, Shortcuts and 3D Touch. I know to open a short cut it's basically a 3D Touch action but I am wondering if the Xcode sim and MT2 will allow me to accomplish and test all of those iPhone 6s features.

Yes, if you use the MT2 with the simulator, all of the 3D touch features for iOS will work perfectly well in simulator, just tested it out myself. Even the 3D touch features in the watchOS simulator work too.
