Magic Trackpad? Magic Mouse?

I bought my iMac from ebay and a standard Mighty Mouse came with it which I still use. It isn't amazing, It's O.K. I've never really liked it much and am going to get round to buying Magic Mouse, but 2 days ago lo and behold they make a new mouse! I like the classic mouse format but is the trackpad better? Which should I buy? As a standalone mouse for my iMac....

Magic Trackpad looks like a nice toy but I can't imagine myself using a trackpad with a desktop. I recommend you to go into a store and play with them, then decide. Actually, go to a PC store as well and play with normal mice as well because Magic Mouse ain't that comfortable and for real work, a real mouse with actual BUTTONS is very welcome

I use Mighty Mouse at work and the little ball thingy keeps getting unresponsive after some time because of dust... it really is annoying.

At home I use a Logitech Trackball (Cordless Optical Trackman). I really recommend it. I've had it for years and it works very well. I used it so much the logo and other arrows have rubbed off

Trackballs take some getting use to (I hated using them at first) but I find they are much faster and less annoying to use than mice.

I'd recommend going to try some out in a store before you order!

Don't forget the third option, a full blown tablet. If you're doing anything arty that could be the best choice.

i ordered my iMac 21.5" core i5 the other day, i will be using my Razer mouse i've had for years.

Sunday night I went to the local Apple Store to try the trackpad out and see the new iMac. All I can say is that from the first time I put my finger on it I fell in love with it! I can easily see myself replacing my mouse with this. Of course, gaming is going to be a different story, will still need my mouse for playing COD MW2 but for the rest of what I do...trackpad for me!

i'm psyched to pick up the Trackpad for my iMac.

I really like using it on my MBP and when I sit at my iMac I have often wished I had the same functionality for it that the MBP has. The magic mouse just isn't as good.

The only thing I am not psyched about is the extra $70 + tax I will have to pay to get this. Unforunately this means it will be happening later rather than sooner!

I love the track pad on my macbook, so I bought the track pad for my mac mini. I keep the trackpad and magic mouse on my desk, but my hand keeps going for the magic mouse.

I thought I would love the trackpad but I think the mouse may be better.

I will have to further test by taking the mouse off my desk, and see if I get off my rear to get it.

Hey guys!

Went to my Apple Store and played with both since I've got Mighty Mouse at the moment. Trackpad is fantastically cool and brilliant but much the same as above I kept reaching for the mouse and it's weird cause' the Mighty Mouse is potentially the WORST mouse I've ever used but the Magic Mouse is easily the BEST. for long term use I need a mouse so I bought the magic mouse from eBay haha cheap skate! Plus the trackpad is £69 from Apple!! To much for a peripheral

I wanted to post an interesting scenario. I am left-handed, but I have always used my mouse in my right hand because it was easier to learn games with this configuration as a child. However, when I use my MacBook Pro, I use my left hand to track and click because it feel more comfortable.

Since it's infinitely natural to me, this has afforded me the opportunity to have the best of both worlds. Observe:

same here! I however use my left hand for my mouse. I used to have to use my right hand as the Family Desktop had the computer tower on the right therefore the mouse on the right. Now with my mac the Wireless mouse opens up a world of opportunity!!
