Magnetic power cord

Hello,

i was just curious if any of you have experienced any problems with the magnetic power coaqrd. Mine has frayed where the cord meets the magnetic device that connects to the computer. It will need to be replaced and it looks to cost about $90. It is less than a year old.

Anyone else have this problem or know if it has been addressed in any way?

Phone / go to apple and demand a replacement...if they tell you no, then ask for the manager and cross your fingers...

if it's less than a year old, you shold still be covered by warranty right? give them a call!

Yeah, this shouldn't happen. We notebook powercords at my office that are over 5 years old and look fine (not Apple). I'd ask Apple to replace it.

Yah I have ad experience with this.... ask half the people here and they will tell you. Unless you want your house to burn down take it back... Mine caught fire

Yeah, I'm sure that if you are within the warranty you'll be able to get it replaced fee of charge.

please note that despite there is a quick detach magnetic connector does not mean you can just yank off the cord that way. It is only meant for the not so frequent accidental trip or kick.

Properly detach by grasping the white connector and either tilting up or down to disconnect. Never, ever, pull off any kind of plug by the cord.

I stopped by the Apple store and they replaced it no questions asked (probably because it was within its first year). I took a closer look and the plastic casing had started to melt!

I'm sure their standard policy is if it looks like it's going to start a fire (and then a lawsuit) - then just replace it without question.

all of my Apple laptop connectors have been fine. Although dells, let's just say my dad has had to buy over 3. It does happen to laptops but I've never had a problem with mine.
