I just read an article on hidden features and tips to make the horrible IOS 10 less painful to use. One they mention is that if you press the home button three times, you can magnify text you are reading, which is great for those of us with bad eyes. But after enabling this feature, all the three clicks does is take me to the camera, where I can magnify an image for a photo, but not return to the article or text I was reading to make it bigger. So for an example, if I'm reading a New York Times article, and want to make the text larger, I can't: I'm taken to the camera and can magnify a photograph, but can't actually go back to the article to make it bigger.

Am I doing something wrong?

Few more things to read ;)

And ..

The thing on your phone you are reading .. is on your phone.
The camera .. shows you the real world.

What you need to zoom in on your phone, is the zoom feature.

iOS has 2 things now:
- zoom under accessibility; so you can zoom in on the screen of the phone, (not using the camera).
- magnifier; so you can zoom in on the real world with a camera

You have to use Zoom.

Settings -> General -> Accessibility -> Zoom. You can configure it to your liking.

I'm already familiar with the zoom feature. (Which I don't love for various reasons.) This article seems to suggest a new feature for enlarging text using magnifer.

And it's in reference to using the camera to magnify something you want to look at like a magnifying glass (and even take a photo like that if you want).

For things on your device itself the options for something similar to that are to use the zoom feature and/or (at least when it comes to text) potentially increase the text size or make it bold via settings.

Perhaps I'm wrong. I thought it could magnify things you were reading, not just ants crawling around or something.

I have not read the other threads lately. Do people seem to hate IOS 10 as much as I and my friends do?

It can magnify a book or a newspaper or something else you are physically reading (just not something on the phone itself).

As for iOS 10, as is usually the case, there are various people that aren't liking it for various reasons, and there are many others who like it, and others still who really neither like nor dislike it.

I think loads of people really like it. I have yet to see a thread where there's a mass jump to android because of ios10 or something

What's different between the camera in the Magnifier feature and the regular camera app? They both zoom in the same way.
