Hey.

Within the last week, the MagSafe 3 charging cable that shipped with my day one M1 Max 16" MacBook Pro stopped charging the computer. It still charged via a USB-C port while I waited for a (purchased) replacement cable to ship out to test if it was indeed the cable that had stopped working or if the issue was the charging port on the computer itself. The new MagSafe 3 cable arrived, and it charges just fine.

Is this a common issue? I'm surprised a cable, especially the magnetic Magsafe cable, stops working out of nowhere with no abnormal strain or misuse, showing no signs of damage.

I had to replace my MagSafe 3 cable through warranty (luckily) on my MacBook Pro M2 Pro 14". Going through Apple, we determined it was just the cable that wasn't working as I had another MagSafe 3 cable from another MacBook and it worked fine plugged into the same charging brick. If you're within the one year warranty they will replace it (or of course if you have Apple Care).

I read a few other reports online of people having issues with the MagSafe 3 cable. For me, it just flashed orange and didn't charge.
