My magsafe cable has been getting very hot on the point it plugs into my macbook. It's got to the point where it burns my hand when i touch it. Any ideas whats wrong with it?

Take it out before it gets that hot...

Caused By Resistance....

Unfortunately, that heat you luckily did recognize, would have been caused by resistance... Either from a severely weakened Cable/ Strand Issue near the Connector or else an actual Breakdown in the Contact Area between the Computer and Cable connectors...

If no visible damage is seen on the cable then should be Warranty I imagine... If horribly melted (did not view pics yet) then hope thety are nice to you!! Mine has always run Cool as can be... Good Luck!!

All of the magsafes I have used get hot while charging the laptops. But I have never seen the cable getting hot... ust the plastic white thing. Definitely take it to apple.

This is one of the things I was dreading as I waited for my brand new SR Macbook Pro, but I'm happy to say mine runs cool to the touch!

Looks like Apple may have fixed the problem in their recent adapters.
