My magsafe cable is blinking amber while i connect it to my 2021 16’ Macbook Pro.
I brought it to Barcelona biggest Apple store , we realized it was not cable or charger, He told me i have to pay 750 euros and they will send it to Czech Republic to inspect it and fix it, and if its less they will return money.
I refused, it is not that big of a deal because it charges normally through usb-c. I came home and ordered magsafe port from apple and replaced it by myself. Issue still persist afer replacement.
The laptop is only 1 year and 2 months and it is bit annoying that magsafe port is already not working.
Im just wondering, anybody knows which part is likely faulty if its not magsafe port itself. Is it really likely posible that whole logic board needs to be changed? Thank you for your answer.

i don't know if this is a related issue or not, but lately i have also started having frequent magsafe charging issues with my 2021 16" macbook pro.

when i plug it in, it does not charge. and it is not an optimized charging situation. the laptop will completely drain and upon noticing the low battery warning i'll see that it hasn't been charging the entire time. the cord and port both look clean and in pristine condition. also this never happened for the first year and a half of ownership (so i don't think its that i suddenly don't know how to plug it in properly - i've also been using macbooks since 2008 and never had this happen). but now it happens nearly every other day.

usually unplugging and plugging back in will eventually get it to recognize the cord, but sometimes this needs to be done 2-3 times. i can't tell if its a hardware or software issue. i guess i can try using usbc charging for a while to see if the issue goes away, but i really appreciated the return of magsafe and i generally make use of all my usb ports so this is an inconvenient regression :(

Are you using the original Apple power brick or a 3rd party one?
