I got my 17" MBP a few days ago. Stunning! (And my screen is evenly lit, pixel perfect, and not discernably 'grainy'. Given all the complaints about the 15" MBP screen in other threads, I'm so glad I decided to go for more real estate at the cost of a (very) small drop in ease of carting it around.)

The only fly in the ointment -- the battery stopped charging from the adaptor within 48hrs. But fortunately, another adaptor worked fine when I took the machine round to the uni. hardware support; so the problem isn't onboard but just a failed adaptor. Have I just been very, very unlucky or are the adaptors flakey (I seem to recall seeing elsewhere that people have been having problems)??

(I Phoned Apple Friday 11 am. The UPS trackers reports that the replacement adaptor is on schedule to be delivered on Monday. Which is, to be fair, a very good response. So fingers crossed ....)

The only problems people were facing with the power adaptors was that it gets hot, it made sounds, and sometimes it "melted" at the tip.

Oh sorry to hear that. I've had a great time with my power adaptor except for the fact that I wish the cord after to powerbrick was a little longer... The cord coming from the wall is nice and long, but I always seem to have my power brick sitting with in a feet of me... I also find myself fining an outlet on teh right so I had to stretch the cords all the way to the left.

Oh yeah, also the other problem I had once is my batter was dead so I plugged in the charger and it then was just running off the charger and not on the battery; in fact the battery should an x mark on it instead of a charging symbol or whatever...
