Succinctly, I have one of my email accounts that I would prefer to not be included in the Unread category. It gets emails that I need to keep and read at some point, but I don't want cluttering up the Unread section. Is there a way to separate an account out of the Unread section?

Basically, you want a rule that marks as read upon receipt mail sent to that account (and perhaps move it to a custom folder), but unfortunately creating Mail rules iOS/iPadOS is not an option. You can do it on iCloud.com for mail read there, or on a Mac, but rules created with either of those Mail versions do not apply to mail received in your iOS device.

Thanks WildSky. In the base account (gmail in this case) in question, I want them all left as unread but on my phone to not show up in the unread folder. Basically, I would want a rule to only include Accounts X, Y, and Z in my Unread folder and not pull from Account A.

I don’t have a gmail account to test with, but I‘m wondering if the Unread folder is specific to gmail. There is no unread folder with the Mail app, but there is an Unread filter that can be applied to the Inbox.

Unread is an iOS thing. Smart mailbox type thing.

Unfortunately, does not appear to be a way to exclude an account. Only thing you can do is to hide "Unread" folder.

@NoBoMac - I kind of thought that would be the case, but I also thought I would run it by the experts here just in case I was overlooking something. I like the Unread folder concept if I could select which mailboxes fed into it. I think I'll just end up deleting the less critical email account off my phone and only check it by computer.

I apologize that I’d forgotten there was an Unread folder setting that can be enabled (versus the filter I mentioned). I haven’t viewed those in a very long time.
